   WHEN WE DANCE

When we dance, I get carried away
By romance and the words that you say
When we dance, make violins play
When we dance

When we touch, I know just how you feel
And how much of your pain I can heal
When we touch, everything's real
When we touch

     When we dance
     Life couldn't get much better
I wish we could dance forever
I love the way you hold me when we dance
     . . . When we dance

When we love, I love looking at you
Thinking of all that you're going through
When we love, I know that it's true
When we love

          Filled with emotion
          I'm floating on air
This must be some kind of dream
It seems too good to be real
          but I swear
It feels so real to me

When we dance, I get carried away
By romance and the words that you say
When we dance, make violins play
When we dance

     When we dance
     Life couldn't get much better
I wish we could dance forever
I love the way you hold me when we dance
     . . . When we dance

Notes

A 'pre-Nashville' song . . . I wrote this one alone, back in 1992.  I believe that I was just starting to get into dancing back then (I was divorced and going out dancing for fun - later I became a dance instructor, that's how much I love dancing.)  More than being inspired by the love of a woman, this song is inspired by my love of dancing.
(Take note - it's a waltz!)
